On 14 October, Australia is holding a referendum
A referendum is a national vote to decide 'yes' or 'no' on an important decision.
Like a federal election, all Australians enrolled to vote must vote.
In this referendum, we are deciding if Australia should recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Constitution.
If you vote 'yes', you agree we should recognise them in the Constitution.
Voting 'yes' also supports the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice To Parliament. The Voice to Parliament means Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people can always speak to the government about things that affect them.
Polling places will be open from 8am to 6pm on Saturday 14 October.
